5 Ways to Well-Being
"5 ways to Well-being" are simple actions advocated by the New Economics Foundation in the UK, based on extensive research. They're fun and easy to implement in our daily lives, and help us improve our well-being. We should integrate these five simple actions into our daily lives, forming our own lifestyles, our own routines, and our own habits, in a simple, natural, and fun way.
1. Be Active
Be Active refers to choosing any form of exercise according to our interests, physical condition, or abilities, and to maintain a consistent exercise habit. Be more active on something, rather than nothing. Whether it's walking, brisk walking, running, cycling, hiking, dancing, or gardening, regardless of the intensity, timing, or manner. Cultivating a regular habit of exercise is a great start for holistic well-being. It not only keeps us healthy but also reduces stress and aids in sleep.
2. Take Notice
Take Notice refers to accepting everything around you with an open mind. Pay attention to the small details that you've been neglecting. Be curious about what is happening around us. Start from yourself; pay attention to the changes in the people and environment around you, and things that catch your curiosity. It makes us be aware of our surroundings and helps us understand and take care of our physical and mental needs.
3. Give
Helping others brings happiness. We can begin by saying beautiful words to people who need a little comfort. For example, simply nodding and greeting someone, saying thank you, or proactively helping people in need can warm others' hearts. You will also feel self-worth and happy.
4. Connect
Connecting with others and building relationships are part of the basic physiological needs of human beings. Connecting with others doesn't need to be grand or deliberate; it can be as simple as smiling at the bus driver, chatting with a friend, visiting family members, or having a meal together. Connecting with others regularly not only increases our sense of belonging and well-being but also reduces feelings of loneliness. Additionally, it can lower the risk of many health issues, such as colds and fevers.
5. Keep Learning
Life is full of new experiences worth learning, so you can rediscover new hobbies. Beyond what has been our past hobbies, we are also able to pick up something new, like learning a new language, attending personal growth courses, and more.
